Ostende, a beautiful city at the North Sea, is a major Belgian metropolis. Ostende comprises the boroughs of Mariakerke, Stene and Zandvoorde, and the city of Ostend proper – the largest at the Belgian coast. Ostend is also famous for its sea-side esplanade, pier, and fine-sand beaches.

Mercator, you can find this ship in the Yacht harbor and it can be visited as a museum, but the ship can also sail out. It is a 3-master, built in 1931 and used by Belgian Navy. Really worth a visit.

Fort Napoleon, an impressive Napoleonic fortress, is the only one still intact in all of Europe. It is now used as a training ground for climbers. Saint Peter and Saint Paul’s church, built in 1905, is a neo-Gothic church; its uniqueness lies in the extensive use of sandstone in its construction.

The Casino of Oostende is one of the largest casinos in Europe and has been attracting visitors for more than 150 years.
